Job Summary:
As a Registered EEG Technologist at Minnesota Epilepsy Group, you will play a crucial role in diagnosing and treating epilepsy by performing high-quality Electroencephalography (EEG) tests and providing ongoing monitoring of recordings. You will work closely with our epileptologist to monitor and record electrical brain activity, contributing to the accurate assessment and management of patients’ conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine EEG, continuous video EEG for inpatients/outpatients following lab protocols effectively and independently
- Describe and answer patient and family questions about the basic processes of EEG hook-up ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the process
- Calibrate, set up, and troubleshoot EEG equipment to guarantee accurate readings and optimal performance
- Monitor and record brain activity during various physiological states and recognize artifacts and interference during EEG recordings and make necessary adjustments to maintain data quality
- Monitor patients in the EMU, ICU, and other units, recognizing both normal and abnormal EEG patterns, as well as clinical correlations
- Conduct specialized procedure such as PET, MEG and ISAT
- Perform charge tech duties
- Communicate, collaborate with epileptologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure the accuracy and relevance of EEG data for diagnostic and treatment purposes
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols, ensuring the cleanliness and sterility of equipment and the examination environment
- Stay updated on the latest EEG technology and techniques through continuous education and professional development
- Other duties as apparent or assigned including new equipment or procedures consistent with patient and technical care
Licenses (Required):
- Current certification as a Registered EEG Technologist (R.EEG T) through the ABRET
- BLS certification
Qualification:
- Proficiency in EEG equipment operation, electrode placement, and data interpretation
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently
- Proficiency in maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical and legal standards
- Adhere to the requirements of the hospitals’ credentialing policies
- This position requires a minimum commitment of two years with the company
