Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET)

Major Accountability: A biomedical equipment technician (BMET) main responsibilities include maintaining, servicing, and repairing medical equipment. This includes as well taking preventative measures, cleaning, or adjusting pieces of equipment. BMETs must be familiar with hospital machinery. BMETs are always up to date on the most recent technologies emerging in the medical field and help ensure that other clinic hospital staff members use the machinery safely. This position may require the employee to be available throughout the day and occasionally evening and night as needed .
TECHNICAL CARE SERVICES
- Interact regularly and directly with employees to provide equipment updates.
- Maintain documentation on new equipment, inspections, and equipment repairs and failures.
- Ability to analyze, repair, and test electronic and electrotechnical equipment.
- Ability to run diagnostic programs.
- Ability to analyze, repair, and test electronic and electromechanical equipment.
- Recommend new equipment and testing procedures
- Perform preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices, and systems, and monitor completion of preventive maintenance actions.
- Troubleshoot equipment problems.
- Move equipment with minimal patient disruption and with careful regard for equipment.
- Verify montages in use for daily patient care.
- Strip records after a) reading confirmed and b) manager approved.
- Check and change indwelling cables with assistance.
- Perform and report weekly inventory.
- Other duties as apparent or assigned include new equipment or procedure(s) consistent with patient and technical care.
- Understand and comply with Joint Commission and other applicable standards and regulations
