Supervises: All Clinical and patient care staff (RN’s, NP’s, PA’S & other clinical support staff)

Job Summary: This position is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and supervising the daily delivery of health care to MEG patients. This position directs the daily clinical operations by supervising all clinical staff and establishing standard operating procedures to optimize work flow and function across both programs and clinic sites. Deals with evolving integrated health care delivery systems, technological innovations, an increasingly complex regulatory environment, restructuring of work, and more emphasis on “caring for our patients for life.”

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Manages clinical department with major focus on improving the following:
o Patient care experience;
o Business aspects of health care operations and;
o The quality of the health care provided.
• Collaborates with administrative staff and physicians, RN’s, NP’s, PA’s to optimize efficiency of a variety of related services ranging from inpatient care to outpatient follow-up care.
• Identifies and implements opportunities to build employee morale and individual motivation.
• Establishes and implements policies, objectives, and procedures for patient care. Reports on department results and outcomes.
• Participates in staff human resource planning and decisions, including hiring, training, supervision, and evaluating personnel and their work.
• Develops budgets, participates in expense management, and recommends equipment outlays and facilities.
• Ensures appropriate reimbursement by staying abreast of billing, collections, and payer matters as well as HIPAA and compliance with other healthcare organizations.
• Monitors patient service feedback and helps resolves complaints and service issues.
• Coordinates activities with other managers, administrative staff, and physicians.
• Serves on practice committees as assigned by Medical Director.
o Clinical Direction & Planning Committee
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Works with internal EMR / Practice Management System super-users to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness for all staff members and physicians.

Education: BSN or other clinical degree. On-the-job management experience is extremely helpful. Master’s degree in health administration or business administration is an opportunity for professional growth and development.​

Experience: Minimum 3 to 10 years of clinical experience with business/management responsibilities.

Other Requirements:
• Current state RN license or other clinical license as required by state.
• Current CPR certification.
• Other business and/or practice management experience helpful

Performance Requirements:

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of health care delivery trends and implications for clinical specialty and for the medical practice.
• Ability to solicit input & feedback from the physicians regarding clinical operations.
• Knowledge of planning, budgeting, human resource management, and report development.
• Knowledge of payment/reimbursement systems and government/legal regulations and requirements related to health care.
• Development and implementation of clinical services quality assurance plan, work standards and policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge and experience of using EMR & Practice Management System.

Skills:
• Skill in organizational and interpersonal communications.
• Skill in restructuring work to make patient flow and other operational systems more efficient.
• Skill in motivating others to implement their decisions, which requires strong leadership abilities using tact, diplomacy, flexibility, and communication techniques.

• Ability to analyze financial and other business data.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from physicians, managers, clients, and customers.
• Experience and ability to utilize EMR & Practice Management System (e.g. ECW)
• Ability to competently use Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and appropriate practice management software.

Work Environment: Typically work in private offices. Frequent contact with patients maybe requested and/or required.
