Generic name: Clobazam

Doses typically start at 5mg once to twice daily, depending on patient weight, and are titrated up to 20mg twice daily as tolerated.
SHOULD YOU TAKE CLOBAZAM / ONFI™ WITH FOOD?
Clobazam may be given with or without food. Tablets can be crushed and mixed in applesauce for patients who have difficulty swallowing.
FOR WHAT TYPES OF SEIZURES IS CLOBAZAM / ONFI™ COMMONLY USED?
Clobazam / Onfi™ has been approved for individuals 2 years old and older with:
- Seizures associated with Lennox – Gastaut syndrome
WHAT IS THE THERAPEUTIC RANGE (BLOOD LEVEL) FOR CLOBAZAM / ONFI™?
Clozabam / Onfi™ blood levels are not routinely drawn and there is not an established therapeutic range.
Other seizure medications, prescription or non-prescription medications may interact with Clobazam / Onfi™ and increase side effects. Check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting any prescription or non-prescription medications.
|COMMON SIDE EFFECTS||WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?|
|If these symptoms are severe or prolonged, call the clinic. If these symptoms are only minor and they go away, tell your nurse or doctor at your next clinic appointment.Lethargy/somnolence may impair driving. Therefore driving is not recommended if you experience this side effect. Call your doctor.|
|UNCOMMON SIDE EFFECTS||WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?|

MISSED DOSES: If you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Do not make up the missed dose at the same time as your next dose as you may experience side effects (do not double up). Spread out the remaining doses for that 24-hour period. If you miss more than 24 hours of medication, call your doctor’s office.
STOPPING CLOBAZAM / ONFI™: Do not stop taking clobazam suddenly. Abrupt or rapid discontinuation of clobazam may lead to withdrawal seizures or withdrawal symptoms such as depressed feelings, anxiety, psychosis, hallucinations, behavioral disorder, and tremor
USE OF ALCOHOL: Drinking alcohol while taking clobazam / Onfi™ may increase the common side effects of the medication and may cause more seizures. Avoid drinking alcoholic beverages.
PREGNANCY: It is important to plan your pregnancy. Most of the antiepileptic medicines can be used during pregnancy, but it is best to discuss the possible complications, including birth defects, BEFORE you become pregnant. Damage to the baby from antiepileptic medications usually occurs before you know you are pregnant.
